Monthly Service Project Collections

For the month of September, the Women’s Club of Caldwell is collecting New and Gently Used Bras for Free the Girls at both the Caldwell and West Caldwell Public Libraries. Free the Girls helps women rescued from sex trafficking reintegrate into their communities.  Survivors of sex trafficking can earn a safe income selling bras in the second-hand marketplace.  The second-hand clothing market is a thriving industry in many countries around the world. By receiving a starting inventory from Free The Girls, the women can begin their business and become an entrepreneur in their communities. This income allows them a safe economic opportunity, and for many of the women, it provides not only for themselves but their children as well!
In this country, bras tend to be an item that many women have sitting in drawers for a long time un-touched. Maybe you have one or a few in your drawer that you don’t wear you can donate?  Thank you for your support of this service project!

October is National Bullying Awareness Month. Meet author Maryanne Christiano-Mistretta on October 5th at the Caldwell Public Library at 11AM. Maryanne’s memoir is about being bullied in the 1970s and how she learned to fight back. The Women’s Club of Caldwell is donating 10 books to GCMS and local libraries. Appropriate for middle school to adult.
